Hughsonville firefighters save life

Whereas on March 22, 2016 at 0036 hours the Hughsonville Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services were dispatched to White Gate apartments on MacFarlane Road in the Town of Wappinger, Hughsonville Fire District for a report of an unconscious male, possibly not breathing.

Whereas upon arriving on scene within three minutes were assistant fire chiefs Ed D’Anna and Tyler Pettit, along with emergency medical services lieutenant William Beale, Captain Timothy Morano, Lieutenant Trevor Dhalla, firefighters Alex Lorenzini and Ryan White.

Whereas assistant fire chiefs Ed D’Anna, Tyler Pettit and EMS lieutenant William Beale are New York State emergency medical technicians trained in the use of naloxone, commonly known as narcan.

Whereas these Firefighters immediately recognizing that the patient was not breathing, artificial respirations were conducted while narcan, was administered by the firefighters while artificial respirations and oxygen therapy were also provided prior to the arrival of the ambulance. Once on scene, the Mobile Life paramedic started an IV and administered additional naloxone. The 38 year old male began to breathe again on his own and slowly regained consciousness.

Whereas the Hughsonville Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners has made it a priority to supply our Firefights with the training and life saving equipment needed in such an emergency.

Therefore be it resolved that the Board of Fire Commissioners, at its regular scheduled meeting the 25th day of April, 2016 hereby commend assistant fire assistant fire chiefs Edward D’Anna and Tyler Pettit, EMS lieutenant William Beale, Captain Timothy Morano, Lieutenant Trevor Dhalla, firefighters Alex Lorenzini and Ryan White for their life saving actions and for their faithful and loyal devotion to duties, have rendered invaluable service to our community and its citizens.
