110th Installation of Officers & Inspection Dinner

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, the Hughsonville Fire Department held the 110th Installation of Officers and Inspection Dinner. Chief of Department Paul Rogers and Company President Anthony Martino presented firefighters with awards for Life Saving, Unit Citations, Years of Service, “Jason Morse” Company Achievement Award, and the Firefighter of the Year Award.
The Hughsonville Fire Department would like to extend our appreciation to Vincent Galvin for taking the photos at our 110th Installation of Officers Dinner Dance.

Company President and Chief Paul Rogers presented John Lorenzini with a plaque for 10 years of service.
PAST FIREMATIC OFFICERS RECOGNIZED
Chief Rogers presented Firefighter John King with a plaque with his Company Captain Shield for his service as Company Captain from 2019-2022. Over the last four years Past Captain King was responsible for the initial firefighter training, mandatory quarterly training, driver re-qualifications, equipment and apparatus check outs.
Chief Rogers presented Firefighter Michael Flynn with a plaque for his service as Lieutenant for the year 2022.

UNIT CITATION AWARDS
Chief of Department Paul Rogers issued the following members below a unit citation award for their actions at (2) separate Motorcycle vs Vehicle Auto Accidents, in the year 2022.
On May 21, 2022, Hughsonville FD and Town of Wappingers Ambulance were dispatched by DC911 for a reported Motorcycle vs Car on Osborne Hill Road in the Town of Wappinger. Hughsonville Fire Chief (45-1) and Town of Wappingers Ambulance arrived on scene to find one motorcyclist lying in the roadway. A helicopter was requested by Hughsonville Command due to the injuries of the motorcyclist. Hughsonville 45-7 (Dist. Duty Captain Beale) 45-55(Heavy Rescue) & 45-62(Utility Truck) operated on scene while 45-11(Engine) set up a landing zone at the Hughsonville Fire Station. Rombout FD was requested by command to assist with closing the Osborne Hill Road at their district line. Due to the team work of Hughsonville FD and Town of Wappinger Ambulance the motorcyclist has made a recovery.
On July 3, 2022, Hughsonville FD and Town of Wappingers Ambulance were dispatched by DC911 for a reported Motorcycle vs Car on Ketchamtown Road in the Town of Wappinger. Hughsonville FD responded with 45-55(Heavy Rescue) and 45-11(Engine). Once on the scene firefighters assisted with traffic control and patient packaging. One firefighter assisted the crew from Town of Wappingers Ambulance with the transport to the local hospital. Due to the actions of the crew from Town of Wappingers Ambulance and the members of the Hughsonville FD, the patient has made a recovery.
THE JASON MORSE MEMORIAL COMPANY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Company President Anthony Martino presented Past Chief Justin Jerrick with the "Jason Morse Memorial Achievement Award". This award is the Hughsonville Fire Departments highest Company Level Award. This award was named after Past Assistant Chief & Commissioner Jason Morse who displayed exceptional service to our department and community.
LIFE SAVING AWARD
EMS Lieutenant Thomas Gallman, Sr. was issued a Life Saving Award for his actions on April 30, 2022. Hughsonville FD and Town of Wappingers Ambulance were dispatched to male with chest pain. While Town of Wappingers Ambulance began transporting the patient to the local hospital the patient went into cardiac arrest. The ambulance was then pulled over and EMS LT. Gallman entered the ambulance and began assisting the crew with CPR. Due to actions of the crew from Town of Wappingers Ambulance and EMS Lieutenant Thomas Gallman this patient has made a full recovery.
FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR
Chief Rogers presented the 2022 Firefighter of the Year Award to Lieutenant Kevin Cruz. The Firefighter of the Year Award is the Hughsonville Fire Departments most decorated firematic award. Since joining in 2020, firefighter Cruz has taken hundreds of hours of New York State Training Courses such as Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, EVOC, Rescue Technician Basic, and NYS Emergency Medical Technician. In September 2022, Firefighter Cruz was elected to fill a vacancy for the position of Second Lieutenant. Lieutenant Cruz responded to 256 emergency incidents in the year 2022.
CHIEF SHIELD PLAQUE
Chief Rogers presented Past Chief Justin Jerrick with his Chief of Department helmet shield. Chief Jerrick wore this chief shield for three years as Chief of Department. (2020-2022)
Chief Paul Rogers, Past Chief William Beale, and Past Chief Glenn Kramer recognized Justin Jerrick for his service as Chief of Department of the Hughsonville Fire District. Chief Jerrick served as Chief of Department from 2020-2023. Since joining the our organization in 2006, he has held the following firematic positions: Firefighter, Lieutenant, Company Captain, Second Assistant Chief, First Assistant Chief and Chief of Department. Since 1913, Chief Jerrick is one of 23 other firefighters to reach the rank of Chief of Department. Chief Jerrick will remain as member of our departments 2023 Chief Staff and is serving as 1st Assistant Chief.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Past Chief Justin Jerrick thanked the Officers and Members of the Hughsonville FD for their service to our organization and community. Past Chief Jerrick also presented current Chief of Department Paul Rogers and District Duty Captain William Beale with each a gift for serving as his Command Staff for the last three years.
